New Update - Road Rage: Suspect Nabbed After Victim Run Over On Long Island

A suspect has been apprehended after a man suffered severe injuries in a road-rage incident on Long Island.

It happened around 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in West Babylon.

Two men drove their vehicles into a shopping center parking lot located at 90 Route 109, according to Suffolk County Police.

They both exited their vehicles and engaged in an altercation. 

One of the men got back into his vehicle, rammed the other man's vehicle three times, and then ran over the other man before fleeing the scene, said police.

The 51-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

On Monday morning, Oct. 21, Suffolk County Police announced that, following an investigation, the suspect, Patrick Laughlin, of Babylon, was arrested Sunday night at around 11:15 p.m. in connection with the incident.

Laughlin was charged with:

  • Assault in the first degree, 
  • Assault in the second degree, 
  • Criminal mischief.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
